What do you do at Mizuho?
I serve as the Global Head of Strategic Development for Mizuho's asset management area. I’m responsible for directing our growth strategy, product development and investor-related matters.

What surprised you about Mizuho?
I'm most surprised by Mizuho’s non-arrogant personality. There's a sense of cohesiveness and support among its ranks.

What are Mizuho's culture and people like?
Mizuho values each employee in the organization regardless of his/her role. It’s a culture that accepts and celebrates differences among its employees. We encourage every member of the team to contribute their unique independent perspective.

What is the first thing you read every day?
World news, sports and alternative investments news.

What’s a particularly proud moment you’ve had here?
One of my proudest moments at Mizuho was the recent launch of a new business line in the field of quantitative risk premia investing. This was accomplished through partnership with an established, independent global asset management firm.

What else interests you, outside financial services?
I’m interested in sports, in particular sports psychology (willpower, physical attributes, habits, routines of world class athletes, etc.)

What’s something you’ve learned from another culture?
Travel (and interaction with other cultures, through business or otherwise) always gives me greater prospective on life. Whenever I travel to a new place, I’m most interested to learn how streams of history have shaped different cultures. However, I ultimately often come back to realize that much of what we believe to be unique about our own culture is often universal.
